The event’s atmosphere will be transformed into an elegant and plush Art Deco decor reflective of the illegal nightclubs and speakeasies of the 1920’s. Guests will be strongly encouraged to participate in the jollity by joining the event staff and entertainers, including models and dancers, in dressing in period inspired attire. Flappers with bobbed hair, bare legs and short skirts will dance the Charleston to the music of Duke Ellington with elegantly dressed men in tuxedos and Mob bosses in raccoon coats. Every detail of the event will authentically represent the Jazz Age, when according to F. Scott Fitzgerald "The parties were bigger…the pace was faster…and the morals were looser." As in the 20’s, the focus of the afternoon is the drink, so forbidden at the time. Elegantly dressed butlers will keep the Champagne flowing and pass fresh Mint Juleps and Bathtub Gin, along with a variety of delicious hors d’oeuvres prepared by Wolfgang Puck Catering. The Roaring Twenties was the first truly modern era and symbolized an age anxious to enjoy itself. Everyone that attends “The Great Gatsby…Get Your Flap On”, is guaranteed to have a great time. But, if the party gets raided, we’ll just blame it on the Jazz. All proceeds of this event will be used to benefit the client services and HIV prevention programs of AIN.
